QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY FOR AN APPLICANT TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A PROBATIONARY PIPE
TRADES APPRENTICESHIP & PROOF OF FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION:
Must have a high school diploma or a GED;
Must fill out the application in person;
Must pass math test without using a calculator;
Must appear for an interview on scheduled date.
AT TIME OF OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT AND PRIOR TO INDENTURE INTO APPRENTICESHIP, THE
APPLICANT:
Must be at least 18 years of age;
Must be legally eligible to work in the USA;
Must be a resident for one year in the geographic jurisdiction of Local #13;
Must have a valid Driver’s License. Apprentice is required to drive company vehicle;
Transcripts from any other educational program you would like to be considered;
DD214 Military transfer or discharge (if applicable);
Must have reliable transportation to and from job sites;
Must attest to the following: Must be physically able to perform the work required:
climbing, heavy lifting (in excess of 80 lbs. on occasion), working in confined areas,
working at various heights from ladders, lifts and scaffolds, working indoors or
outdoors, in industrial plants, institutions, commercial buildings and power plants.
Must pass a physical examination, including a drug test, at the expense of the
Sponsor.
IF YOU ARE ACCEPTED FOR A PROBATIONARY APPRENTICESHIP, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED
TO:
Serve a 5-year Apprenticeship, which includes a one (1) year probationary period;
Report for work on a regular basis, when work is available;
Provide for your transportation to and from the job site;
Work under the direction of a Journey worker on the job site and perform duties
satisfactorily;
Attend related classes regularly and maintain an acceptable average in those classes;
Abide by all rules and regulations of the J.A.T.C.
